Guest Post: The Perils Of Writing Menage By Cassandra Carr

Did you ever read a menage story and think to yourself - who's doing what to who? If you have, can you even imagine what it looks and sounds like in the author's head? A huge plate of spaghetti, from my experience. Maybe that's why while in edits for Head Games I saw such beauties as "Please clarify who is rubbing her clit" and "How can he be at that angle? His wrist would break" in editorial comments. Oops.

Yeah, I mean, goaltenders are pretty flexible, but you still have to keep the laws of physics in mind . . .

I tend to have my heroes in these menage stories prefer one position/act over the others. It makes it a little easier for me if both (or all three, as is the case with book 2 in this series, Cold As Ice) are jumping all over the bed changing positions constantly. And I tend to leave each sex scene in a single point-of-view so the action is centered around one person who is involved but also observing the others. Maybe that doesn't actually make it easier, but at least my head doesn't feel like it's going to explode.

So the next time you're reading a menage romance and get lost during a sex scene, just think of how lost we poor authors were!

Synopsis: Leo Laporte and Scott Schaeffer are teammates on the ice and roommates off it who also share women. They’ve been coming into Kelly Chase’s bistro after games for months, and they know they want her. As the attraction grows, the men realize they want more than a one-night stand - they want forever.
